the sky was cool that morning, nice thing to wake up to.
Yosemite, august 2013.
twas a cool time. I still have a roll of film to develop with some of this on.
My friend took the first picture with his phone, he didn’t want to soak his feet with snow. I just couldn’t stop myself from staring and wanting to climb that big snowy hill. Why stop now? I had to go.
The second picture is part of the view from the top of Bald Hills, my feet were soaked because I had to climb a pretty abrupt slope full of snow and I was sinking to over my knees, sometimes to my waist. I had to follow the traces of someone who had passed by, I don’t know how much time ago. They were barely visible and it felt like it had been years since anyone had passed by but I know that can’t be. It still must have been a while since anyone had passed by, there were no fresh traces. It was in june, it probably had been months since the last significant snowfall, so the traces may have been that old. I found a cellphone there, in the snow, on the slope, an old nokia phone and of course it still worked, it was a nokia after all. It was like a early 00’s model or something, that helped making me feel like it had been a while since anyone had gone through that ‘path?’. I doubt that was the ‘official’ way up there as it was pretty abrupt and a bit dangerous. I was amazed when I got to the top, such a view, a hole valley full of various lakes and surrounded by snowy mountains. I ran around for half an hour taking pictures here and there. I heard the distant echo of my friend who screamed if I was ok because it had been quite a long time since I had been gone… about an hour counting the hike time, I answered and came down.
